Frequently asked questions

Is Lampstead free?

Yes, during the beta everything in Lampstead is free. When Lampstead launches in the App Store and Google Play, the core reader stays free and Lampstead Premium (deeper notes, every journey and more) will cost $4.99 a month or $34.99 a year. The Lampstead Collection, Premium in all five Lampstead apps, will be $9.99 a month or $69.99 a year. Prices are US prices and local prices may vary.

How does the 7-day free trial work?

The free trial is coming at store launch. New subscribers will get 7 days free, and then Apple or Google charges the plan you picked when the trial ends. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or current period ends. You manage or cancel it in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. When the store reports your trial end date, Lampstead also shows a reminder in the app before the trial ends. Purchases aren't open yet in the beta, so nobody is charged today.

How do I restore my purchases?

Open Lampstead Premium (You → Settings → Lampstead Premium) and tap Restore purchases. Restoring works with your Apple ID or Google Play account once purchases open at store launch. In the beta there are no purchases to restore yet. If you were given a gift code, use You → Settings → Redeem a code.

How do I delete my data or my account?

Go to You → Settings → Account & sync. "Delete my data" erases everything stored on this device: notes, highlights, prayers, plans, memory verses and reading history. If you created an account, "Delete account" permanently removes your account and all synced data from our servers, including backups, within 30 days. If you signed in with Apple, we also ask Apple to revoke Lampstead's access.

What does Lampstead do with my data?

Your notes, highlights, prayers, plans, memory verses and reading history stay on your device. An account is optional and is only needed if you want to sync to other devices. Lampstead has no ads and no advertising trackers, and we never sell your data. The website counts visits anonymously without cookies. The full details are in the Privacy Policy at lampstead.app/privacy.

What is the founding tester offer?

Lampstead is free during the beta, and founding testers get 50% off their first year at launch. To save your spot, enter your email on the You tab or at lampstead.app/collection. We use your email only to send your launch code, and we never sell or share it. A separate box, unticked by default, lets you also get occasional Lampstead updates if you want them. To be removed, email [email protected].

How do reading-plan reminders work?

Reminders are off until you turn them on. You can turn them on in You → Settings → Reminders, or when Lampstead offers one right after you start a reading plan. Choose a time for your reading plan, the verse of the day, prayer or Walk with God, and the reminder arrives at that time in your own time zone. You can turn each reminder off with its toggle. On Android and on computers, reminders work in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. On iPhone and iPad, they need iOS 16.4 or later with Lampstead added to your Home Screen (tap Share, then Add to Home Screen). In the App Store and Google Play apps, reminders are coming at store launch.

Which Bible translations are included?

Lampstead includes 50 translations in 40 languages. All of them are public domain or openly licensed, so they're free to include. The main reader uses the World English Bible, and the other English options are the KJV, ASV, Young's Literal, Darby and the Berean Standard Bible. You can switch versions in the reader and read two side by side in parallel view. Copyrighted translations such as the NIV and ESV aren't included because they need a license.

Does Lampstead work offline?

Mostly, yes. After the first visit, the app keeps itself on your device. Each Bible book you open is saved, so you can read it again without a connection. Your notes, highlights, prayers and plans are stored on your device, so they work offline too. Videos, audio Bibles and ministry links still need a connection, and so does syncing your account.

How do I start a reading plan, take notes and study a passage?

Reading plan: open Plans (You → Plans, or from Explore), pick a plan and start it. Today then shows each day's reading, and you check off passages as you read them.

Notes and highlights: in Read, tap a verse to get the action bar. From there you can highlight it in a color, copy it, share it or add a note. "More" opens the full verse card with cross-references. Everything you write is under You → Notes & highlights, and you can export your notes.

Study: tap "Study this chapter" under the chapter title for the people, places, history and culture behind the passage.
